HofflerSmith Financial Services is a family-owned company. The principals are Layton Smith and Stacey Hoffler-Smith.
Stacey Hoffler-Smith, EA
Stacey Hoffer-Smith, EA, is the co-founder and general partner of HofflerSmith Financial Services, an accounting firm in Cherry Hill, NJ, which she started in 1999. With more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry, Stacey enjoys providing each client with a superior experience so they can grow, thrive, and succeed. She is most passionate about helping clients get the best possible results, find solutions, and feel more in control of their stressful and/or insurmountable situation.
Previously, Stacey worked for several years in the Behavioral Health field in Philadelphia, PA. Today, however, she devotes her efforts full-time to enhancing her services in the field of taxes and accounting. Specifically, she offers practical straightforward advice, and in plain language. Her biggest value is integrity; she gives her best every single day.
Some of Stacey’s recent projects include:
- Finished an audit with a client, reducing tax balance from $122K down to $26K
- Completed missing returns, reducing client bill from $60K down to $5,000
- Stopped wage garnishment— prepared missing returns to replace IRS’s self-generated returns (called Substitutes for Return Processing)
- Reversed bank levy for client
Additionally, she has offered services in the community over the years to promote financial literacy, awareness, and support, such as:
- Facilitated free tax preparation for low-income individuals via the IRS VITA Program
- Conducted small business workshops for local churches
- Conducted small business start- up workshops
Stacey has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and a Master’s degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She is a member of the following organizations: South Jersey Chapter of the Links Inc., the Winslow Rotary, the Cherry Hill Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Black Accountants, the National Association of Enrolled Agents; New Jersey Society of Enrolled Agents, and the National Association of Tax Professionals.
When she’s not working, Stacey enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Layton Smith, EA
Layton Smith, Sr., EA, CTC, is the co-founder and general partner of HofflerSmith Financial Services, an accounting firm in Cherry Hill, NJ, which he started in 1999. With more than twenty years of experience in the financial services industry, Layton strives to provide each client with a superior experience, allowing them to grow, thrive, and succeed. Additionally, he enjoys working hard to help entrepreneurs avoid unforeseen financial mistakes. He is most passionate about resolving client problems.
Layton’s core values include integrity, growth, and mindfulness. He gives his absolute best every single day and continuously searches for new and effective ways to approach tasks, conflicts, and improve the customer experience. He provides clients with practical, straightforward advice on financial matters, strategic planning, and taxes, so they can focus on running their business and generating revenue. Layton earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Temple University. He is also an Enrolled Agent and a Certified Tax Coach. When he’s not working, Layton enjoys cigars, grilling, hunting, and collecting firearms. He also likes to attend fraternity events, casinos, and travel with his family.
Chante Council
As our Office Manager, Chante manages our workflow processes. She works coordinates with our front office staff, the accounting team & the managers, as well as our clients. Chante responds to client questions and inquiries, whether it’s related to tax preparation, tax problems, billing, payroll, accounting, or tax planning
Charles Hoffler
Charles Hoffler is the primary principal at the Waterbury, CT office. This office has been in existence for 25 years. In 1996 the original company was reformed as HofflerSmith, Inc.
Chuck Hacker
Chuck is an integral part of our accounting team. As a bookkeeper on our team, Chuck works side-by-side with business owners to facilitate the monthly financial activities. He also helps our business clients regarding bookkeeping, accounting, taxes, and Quickbooks questions.
Chris Foster
Chris is a Tax Professional with more than 10 years tax experience. Chris is our primary liaison with our Connecticut office. He works closely with all of our tax clients and our tax and accounting staff to prepare taxes, connect with clients, and respond to tax notices and other related items.
Layton Smith Jr
Layton Jr is a ‘chip off the old block’ for sure. Layton is an accounting assistant with skills & insight that are invaluable to our team. He’s a data entry specialist and works closely with clients and staff members on tax preparation files and more. He is focused on solutions and doing what’s needed to get the job done. He is an awesome team player, dedicated to maximizing each client’s experience.
Valentina DeRosa
Valentina is an administrative assistant with extensive office experience with related professional services. Her responsibilities include office management, scheduling, billing, interacting with the clients, and much more. Her activities help support the office, and assist us in connecting with our clients, and facilitating our daily activities.
Yuki Potter
Yuki is an office assistant with our company. She helps support the company staff and address the clients’ needs with a smile. Yuki is also a licensed Real Estate Agent, and offers her services to clients as needed.
